You know I’m too cheap to pay for a gym membership….

During the summer I would rather be enjoying the sunshine. 

Going on long walks is much better with a few friends. 

This summer, I was inspired by the national organization GirlTrek to organize a walking team. 

According to the website, here is the purpose of GirlTrek:

“GirlTrek is a groundbreaking 3-year-old national nonprofit that mobilizes women to live their healthiest, most fulfilled lives through a habit of daily walking. Through grassroots organizing and award-winning social media campaigns, GirlTrek supports thousands of walkers….and inspires an ever-growing network of 200,000 supporters through social media. 
GirlTrek’s health movement is fueled by active role models, street organizers, inspirational stories, authentic partnerships and a whole lot of hustle! ”

What I love most about this initiative is that it is welcoming to ladies who are just getting started on their fitness journey. Not everyone wants to run a 5k or a half marathon, but everyone can benefit from 30 minutes of physical activity. 

Once a week on #WalkingTeamWednesday we get together to take an hour long walk on the sidewalks of our community or in local parks. 


My team includes 8 friends and  I hope to see it grow!
